I combine traditional forms that negate function, call into question a new coffee culture and expand the idea that everyday things have beauty and can bring joy to the viewer.  This work is titled, Coffee House.

Form follows function is the single thread through my functional wares.  From hard to find African Tagines and French Cassoles to the simple cup, bowl and butter dish, each have a distinctive quality.

Studio consulting offers a wide range of challenges and creative opportunities beyond my own studio and allows me to interact in the clay community at large, local and regional.

"How are you able to form these vessels so that they possess such convincing beauty?" "Oh," answers the potter, "you are looking at the mere outward shape. What I am forming lies within." - M.C. Richards

I am a potter, ceramic artist, studio consultant, studio mananger, pottery owner, teacher, mentor, father, friend and son.  North Carolina is my ancestoral home.  The mountains are my inspiration and salvation.  I endeavor to make works of function and decoration in the midst of one of the richest craft environements in the country.  I am a member of a community that gives, shares and seeks to broaden the importance of the hand-made object.  To this end, my work can be found in local galleries, churchs, collections and homes.  I frequent craft festivals and sell work by commission or from my studio.  Anything in clay.
